Joining the school board’s audit, finance, and policy committees, the board on Tuesday, Oct. 20, created a new sustainability committee to promote sustainability in the district. The committee has been charged with focusing on the district’s capital improvements, in order to find energy efficient products, with determining the district’s greenhouse gas emissions and creating a plan to reduce them, and with applying for sustainability grants and other funding opportunities. The committee is to include at least one board member, Assistant Superintendent for Business Michael Jumper, operations and maintenance Director Tom Psomas, the district’s wellness and sustainability coach, an assistant principal, and two community members.
