Mendes to host food event for charity

Rica Mendes, local volunteer Livestrong Army leader for the Lance Armstrong Foundation, is hosting “A Taste of Yellow” Livestrong Challenge on Wednesday, Nov. 11, from 7 to 10, at her home in South Salem. Inspired by blogger and fellow Livestrong volunteer Barbara Harris’ “A Taste of Yellow” blog event, guests are asked to bring $18 and their best dish (appetizer, entrée, dessert, or beverage) inspired by Livestrong/the color yellow, and have them photographed, judged, and sampled by the party.

The Lance Armstrong Foundation adopted the golden yellow as its signature color to show “strength and power and victory over any hurdle.”

Guests are asked to also bring the recipe of the food they bring on a note card.
