I want to thank you all for the donations to THON here at Pennsylvania State University. We were able to raise $1,109.64 towards the fight against pediatric cancer last Saturday.

When Briefing Book interviewed Peter Parsons for his then-long shot candidacy for Lewisboro town supervisor ("The Parsons' Tale," April 14), Mr. Parsons promised us that we'd get the first exclusive post-election interview with him should he prevail. Mr. Parsons is a man of his word, as we discovered two Thursday evenings ago when the Bat-Phone rang at the Briefing Book offices.

Two Sundays ago, I attended the Lewisboro Library's annual meeting, where the featured speaker was photographer J. Henry Fair. Mr. Fair is a co-founder and director of South Salem's Wolf Conservation Center and still lives nearby, though I don't think he either dances or sleeps with wolves. (I can't verify either of those assumptions.)

More good news came last week when Town Supervisor Peter Parsons and Director of Finance Leo Masterson said the town would be releasing monthly financial reports at future Town Board meetings. This move was undoubtedly welcomed by Town Board member Dan Welsh, who had been requesting such reports for a year but to no avail. Town Board member John Pappalardo joined in that request earlier this month, as well.

To the Editors:
The last election proved to me, and I hope I'm wrong, that the residents in this area don't care if we become like lower Westchester, ungovernable and a bunch of freeloaders who believe the working class owes them a living.

The other night I dreamt that my little boys were all grown up and away at college. I woke up with the last image in my mind of the boys rolling kegs of beer at me to keep me from giving them a good-bye hug. Once awake, I laughed to myself at the irony; who would be able to afford to send both of them to college anyway?

To prevent a repeat of the town's emergency communication failures during two lengthy and massive power outages last year, town officials have thankfully begun to work on fixing the flaws.
