To the Editors:

I’ve been a fan of Maria Fitzgerald’s from the first time I met her in 1997. She has been a champion of better education for many years. When I heard that she was planning to open a new Montessori school in Katonah several years ago, I wanted to be a part of that experience.

I enrolled my third child with her, and then my fourth. When ThistleWaithe lost its space at St. Mary’s, we followed them to Mount Kisco. As a founding member of ThistleWaithe’s Parents Organization, I understood Ms. Fitzgerald’s worry with each move, and her dream to have her own space. After visiting the new location today, I’m speechless. Her program was already unmatched by any other program around, but along with the facility and property, ThistleWaithe is truly a breathtaking experience. Ms. Fitzgerald, your program challenges our community to raise the bar on education. Thank you for caring about our children.
