Support fields proposal

To the Editors:

If you take a close look at the John Jay High School baseball field, the outfield is a joke. Not only is it too short, but the grass contains craters and divots due to poor drainage. Best of all, center field is seven feet below home plate. You can’t see the bat making contact with the ball if you are seven feet below in the outfield.

Our coaches and students work hard in spite of this situation but we have a chance to fix our field with the renovations being proposed. As students, we need a baseball field we can be proud of; as players, we need a field we can compete on; and as a community, we need a safe field for many years to come. Please vote yes on Dec. 8.
