Fields proposal is right for district

To the Editors:

The Katonah-Lewisboro Parent Council is a group of PTA/PTO presidents working together to advocate on various issues affecting all students in the school district. On Dec. 8, the community will have an opportunity to vote yes on the expenditure of the capital reserve fund for, among other things, renovations to existing fields, construction of new fields at AP Farm Fields, and improvements to the high school’s cultural arts facilities.

These expenditures will benefit all students. Additional fields will provide expanded opportunities for student participation in intramural programs, decrease transportation time for teams, and benefit town and community athletics and recreation programs. Adding air conditioning and storage in the cultural arts facilities will improve practice conditions for student musicians. Because of the generous gift of AP Farm Fields, these improvements are possible by spending the capital reserve funds at no additional cost to taxpayers. We strongly encourage a yes vote on Dec. 8.
