It took four years for the John Jay bowling team to go from a newcomer to an established competitor, a journey capped off last season when the boys team finished seventh in Section 1.
The challenge now is to keep the ball rolling, but without many of the key figures who helped the Indians get to where they are today.
“It’s definitely going to be different this year,” said head coach Paul Plutzker, whose team opens the season today against Rye Neck. “We’ve got a new look and it’s going to be exciting, and it’s going to be interesting.”

Wrestling in Katonah-Lewisboro has come a long, long way since the John Jay Youth Wrestling Club started 14 years ago.
At the time, local wrestling had come to a dead stop, as the John Jay High School team had been dropped in the late 80s.
The youth program began a rebirth that since then has seen John Jay bring back wrestling (in 2001) and in eight years build itself into one of the elite teams in Section 1.Monday, 09 November 2009 06:59

Playing a second-seeded North Rockland team that was aggressive, physical and athletic, the John Jay girls soccer team found itself in an early 2-0 hole in Tuesday’s Section 1 Class AA quarterfinal game in Thiells.
The Red Raiders had the seventh-seeded Indians on their heels for much of the first half, and seemed in clear control of the game when the teams walked off the field at halftime. John Jay had only one shot on goal in the half.
Which made the Indians’ second-half performance all that more impressive.
