Family movie night — The United Church of Christ in Devon, will hold a Family Movie Night on Friday, Nov. 20 at 6 p.m. The movie will be Disney Studio’s animated feature film, “Up” starring the voice of Ed Asner and is rated PG. The cost is $6 for visitors over 5 years old and $3 for children between 3 and 5 years of age. The charge gets visitors a hot dog, potato chips, pickles, dessert, a beverage and unlimited popcorn. Holiday shopping tour — East Shore Middle School PTA will present A Holiday Shopping Tour Friday, Nov. 20, 6 to 9:30 p.m. at the school. Admission is $3 per person or $7 per family (up to six people). Vendors will include Longaberger, Mary Kay, Pampered Chef, Tastefully Simple, Creative Memories and more. Bake table and raffles, too. Inclusive program — The YMCA in conjunction with the Milford Collaborative will offer a Youth and Teen Inclusive Recreation Program, which will include youth of varying needs who wish to participate in YMCA programs.

This program is an opportunity for youth and teens to be paired up with a peer mentor to assist them in one of the YMCA programs. The YMCA currently offers the mentor program in the following areas: Middle School after school program, swim classes, archery, youth dance and youth basketball clinic.

Collection for military — The Milford Jaycees is collecting items to send to Connecticut’s deployed military personnel who are serving in the Middle East. Donations may be dropped off during November to the UPS Store, 167 Cherry St., (next to Shoprite), Community Dynamics at 265 Bic Road in Milford, or Extra Space Storage, 488 Boston Post Road in Orange (near IHOP).

Items to be collected include paperback books, magazines, CD’s, DVD’s, puzzle books (crossword and sudoku) soap, shampoo, dry fruit, gum, hard candy, beef jerky, crackers, baby wipes, sunflower seeds, deodorant-(non-aerosol) toothpaste (Arm&Hammer/peroxide), sunscreen, sweat proof bug spray (non-aerosol), razors, shaving cream (non-aerosol), coffee/tea/hot chocolate, and powder drinks.

Meetings of the Breast Cancer Network of Strength/Milford Hospital Support Group are conducted every other week, Wednesdays, 6-7:30 p.m., in Auditorium A, Milford Hospital, 300 Seaside Ave., Milford. Meetings are free and open to the public.

Childbirth class

The Young Parent Program of Milford offers free childbirth classes for pregnant teens and young adults up to age 21. Eight-week program is conducted at Milford Hospital; additional support services are offered to participants. All services are free and confidental.
