The city will hold its third H1N1 vaccination clinic this Thursday.
The Milford Health Department held its second H1N1 vaccination clinic last Thursday, reporting that more than 250 individuals who meet the priority group criteria were vaccinated.“Due to the overwhelming response and the need to continue to vaccinate individuals in the priority groups, the Milford Health Department will be conducting another H1N1 vaccination clinic on Thursday, Nov. 5 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Milford Health Department located at 82 New Haven Ave.,” health department officials said in a prepared release.
Vaccines will be provided by appointment only due to the limited supply of vaccine at this time. The vaccine will be free.
Community members interested in attending the clinic Nov. 5 can make an appointment by calling the Milford Health Department at 203-783-4813.
Appointments will be scheduled Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. until all appointments have been booked.
Appointments will be scheduled on a first come, first served basis depending on availability of the vaccine.
Residents also are encouraged to contact their medical provider to determine if they can receive the vaccine at their provider’s office.
Though the Milford Health Department will continue to request vaccine based on estimated need, the exact allocation that Milford will receive will be based on the total amount of vaccine received by the Connecticut Department of Public Health, officials said.
Individuals within the following priority groups identified by the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) and the Connecticut Department of Public Health will be eligible to receive the H1N1 vaccine at the clinic:
Pregnant women.
People who live with or care for children younger than 6 months of age.
Children aged 6 months through 4 years.
Children age 5 through 18 years with high risk medical conditions.
