Singer/songwriter, guitarist and former New Canaan resident Mark Pires will perform in Westport and Fairfield this month.
Pires is the winner of the 2001 IndieBob music festival competition, a VH1 Song of the Year finalist and MTV music artist.
He will take the stage at 8 p.m. Saturday, August 8, at the Levitt Pavilion in Westport, and at 8 p.m. Thursday, August 27, at Stage One at the Fairfield Theatre Company. “Sporting a solid John Mayer-esque pop knowhow, a knack for Christopher Walken, Owen Wilson and Richard Dreyfuss impressions and some strikingly speedy acoustic guitar licks, this entertainer brings to the stage many things we hold dear: Artful pop musicianship, lively humor and absolute originality,” according to the Fairfield Theatre Company.Pires has been writing music for 10 years, penned more than 100 songs and was featured on MTV programs such as “The Real World” five times in the last year.
The father of one — soon to be two — recently became a licensed real estate agent with William Raveis in New Canaan.
The Westport show is free and attendees are encouraged to bring picnic blankets and refreshments, according to the artist.
Fairfield’s Stage One, Pires said in a fan newsletter, “could be the best venue in Connecticut.” Tickets may be purchased online at tickets.fairfieldtheatre.com.
