New Canaan’s Bravest pass test

Several New Canaan volunteer firefighters, as well as members of area departments, passed the State of Connecticut DMV licensing test issued Saturday, August 1, successfully finishing a two-month course in fire apparatus driving.

Graduates from New Canaan Fire Company No. 1 include Mike Fico, Win Goodrich, Adam Jones, John Soyland, Brendan Tobin and Jamie Wolff.

The 36-hour course covered topics such as pre-trip vehicle inspections, driving safely, emergency and driving. Participants also received the National Safety Council “Coaching the Emergency Vehicle Operator” certificate. The course was sponsored by the town and instructed by volunteers.

New Canaan Fire Company No.1 is the volunteer fire company that has provided fire protection for the town of New Canaan since 1881 in conjunction with the paid firefighters of the New Canaan Fire Department. The Fire Company is actively seeking new members.
