Outback teens plan haunted house

The Outback Teen Center is hosting events throughout the month of October.

High school events

Offering opportunities for students to boost their college resumes or step into a community leadership role, the Outback Student Governing Board will meet from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 21.

Also on October 21, Christina Musso from The Center will host a mother/daughter talk on teen dating at the Outback. The event starts at 7 p.m. and is open to anyone who would like to attend.

Live music will sound at the Outback Friday, October 23, when This Condition, The Bride Wore Black, and the In Crowd take the stage. The show starts at 7 p.m. and is $10. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

The Outback will host open hours for high school students from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and 5 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Students may play pool, do homework with friends, watch a movie, use the teen center’s computers or just hang out.

Middle school events

The Outback will host an eighth grade Halloween Costume Party Friday, October 16, and a seventh grade Halloween Costume Party Saturday, October 17. The event will feature food, music, games and a costume contest with prizes.

The Outback Student Governing Board will meet from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, October 20.

The Outback hosts open hours for middle school students from 2:30 to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

Additional information

Chef 3M will address about healthy cooking techniques from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 13. “Healthy Families, Happy Families” is open to the whole family and will offer hands on experience for healthy eating.

For middle school parents seeking to learn more about Outback membership and programming, the Outback Student Governing Board will host a Parent Coffee at 7 p.m. Thursday, October 15 and 9:30 a.m. Friday, October 16.

The YMCA and Outback will present their first annual haunted house at the Teen Center in October. Anyone interested in setting up or volunteering is encouraged to let an Outback Teen Center staff member know.

Set up and the creation of the haunted house will take place during the week of October 19. The haunted house will be open the week of October 25.
