The Friends of the New Canaan Library will hold a book sale at the library from Friday, November 6, through Monday, November 9.
Volunteers organize the bi-annual event — which this year has been named after long-time volunteer and former book sale chair John Randolph — and offer a wide selection of CDs, DVDs, videos and books. Most items are gifts from residents.A silent auction of rare and special books, covering the arts, history and literature, will be available for viewing from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, November 5, and from 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday, November 6.
Because of past sales’ popularity, numbers will be available from 11 a.m. on to hold attendees’ positions in line. The sale will begin at 3 p.m. and close at 8 p.m. Opening night includes hot cider and cookies along with live piano music provided by George Baker.
The sale then runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, November 7 and noon to 5 p.m. the following day, with all remaining merchandise at half price.
The event concludes with a $3-a-bag book sale from 9 a.m. to noon Monday, November 9. The Friends of the Library will provide $3 shopping bags, which visitors may fill with available books. Then, from noon to 3, cash donations are requested as books are free for the taking.
The library is located at 151 Main Street in New Canaan. For more information, call 594-5003 or e-mail This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
