Middle schoolers ‘break free’ with Disney musical

Fifth and sixth graders will take to the stage Friday and Saturday, November 13 and 14, as they perform Disney’s “High School Musical” in the Saxe Middle School auditorium. Friday’s performance is at 7 p.m.; Saturday’s is at 2.

In collobration with staff and parent volunteers, the students have been able to “benefit from Saxe’s performing arts initiative which gives them an early exposure to the workings of a theatre and nurtures a love for the arts,” said Alan Sneath, director of Visual & Performing Arts for New Canaan Public Schools.

General admission tickets are $10 and will go on sale in the front lobby of the school from 2 to 5 p.m. November 9 through November 13.

New Canaan Academy of Dance’s Ted Thomas directs and choreographs the show, along with Musical Director Joe Gergle. Gergle will be joined by several high school musicians.
