Ruth Rendell, who has been called “the best mystery writer in the English-speaking world” by Time magazine, will talk about her newest Inspector Wexford series novel, “The Monster in the Box,” at 7 p.m. tomorrow, Friday, November 6, at the New Canaan Library.
A subplot of the book concerns the disappearance of a young Muslim woman whose family may or may not be forcing her into an arranged marriage.
Rendell has won numerous awards for her writing, including three Edgars, the highest accolade from Mystery Writers of America. In addition to three Gold Daggers and a Silver Dagger, she has received a Diamond Dagger for outstanding contribution to the genre from England’s Crime Writers’ Association. A member of the House of Lords, Rendell currently lives in London.
