Opening from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, November 22, the Silvermine Guild Arts Center will exhibit its 26th print triennial, “Print Americas,” running until December 23.
Since 1956, this juried competition has showcased established and emerging printmakers and printmaking techniques. This year’s print triennial has expanded its scope to include entries from Canada, Latin America and throughout the United States. While more than 450 entries from 165 artists were considered for the exhibit, 85 works from 52 artists were selected. Works ranged from etching and lithography to monotypes and mixed media prints.
First place was awarded to Evan Lindquist from Jonesboro, Ark., for “Claude Mellan Engraves A Self-Portrait,” with second place going to Eve Stockton, a Silvermine Guild member from Weston and Alexandria, Va., for her woodcut “Environmental Landscape.” Honorable mention went to Melissa Meredith from Bloomfield for her etching “I Confess.” This year’s juror was Jacob Lewis, director of Pace Prints in Chelsea, N.Y.
An informal Walk & Talk will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 12, with Lewis about the various art selected for Print Americas and the process involved selecting the works for the exhibition.
