Local singers prep for winter concert

Three singers from New Canaan are slated to perform with the Southern Connecticut Camerata, formerly The Westport Madrigal Singers, in the group’s 54th winter concert “Welcome Yule,” at 4 p.m. Sunday, December 13, at St. Paul’s on the Green, 60 East Avenue in Norwalk.

Tenor Dan Bergfeld and baritone Frank Haines, both of New Canaan, and baritone Graham Sultan, who grew up in New Canaan, will perform with the group in its upcoming holiday concert, led by musical director Vincent Edwards. Bergfeld currently serves on the board of Melodious Accord, a not-for-profit organization that supports programs associated with conductor/composer Alice Parker.

Haines has performed with the Glee Club at Holy Cross as well as the Hartford and New Haven Chorales and the West Bank Singers in West Hartford.

Sultan now sings with the New Canaan First Presbyterian Church Choir and the Fairfield County Chorale, where he is a section leader. He also sings second tenor with Gentlemen Songsters, a male double-quartet that performs for nursing and retirement homes.
