Syd Greenberg, a former contributing photographer to the Advertiser and a longtime New Canaan resident, turned 90 this year, and celebrated with the town on November 7. First Selectman Jeb Walker officially proclaimed that Saturday as “Syd Greenberg Day” in New Canaan, and thanked him via proclaimation for his 43 years of service to the town, police and fire departments, and emergency services operations. Greenberg was a war photographer in China during World War II and a photographer for the former president of China. His images of town events have been donated to the New Canaan Historical Society. With Greenberg, left, and his wife Beverly, right, is fellow resident Brian Williams of NBC.
