Registration for winter classes at Lapham Community Center is ongoing and will continue until all classes and programs are filled.
Anyone enrolled in the Medicare Part D Prescription Drug program should be comparing 2009 rates to 2010 rates and ensuring that all their current drugs will still be covered in 2010. Medicare recipients have until December 30 to make changes, although it is recommended changes be made by Friday, December 18, so that a prescription drug plan will be in place on January 1. There are still appointments available with trained Medicare counselors at the center.The movie being shown tomorrow, Friday, December 11, “Samantha: An American Girl,” starring Mia Farrow and Anna Sophia Robb, is one of the American Girl series. Set in 1904, this film revolves around a young woman as she moves in with her grandmother to learn how to become a proper Victorian young lady.
“My Sister’s Keeper,” a movie based on the best-selling Jodi Picoult novel, will be shown Wednesday, December 16. In the movie, Abigail Breslin plays a teenager who tries to earn medical emancipation from her parents who have relied on her to keep their older leukemia-stricken daughter alive.
Karen Korner will lead a discussion about the film and other movies playing in theatres, following the showing.
