Students gear up for winter

The New Canaan High School Concert Choir, in collaboration with the Madrigal Ensemble, will present a Winter Choral Concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 15, at the First Presbyterian Church of New Canaan. Under the direction of David Gomez, the groups will perform several pieces, including the coronation anthem, “Zadok the Priest,” by Handel and “A Trilogy of Innocence and Experience” by Porterfield.

To help support the high school choral program, residents may purchase a box of Texas Ruby Red grapefruit, which contains 18 to 20 grapefruits, at $18 per box. Grapefruit fund raising allows the choir program to purchase needed sheet music materials, concert attire, attend out-of-school concert performances, festivals and choir tours, according to a press release.

Checks must be made out to “NCHS Choral Fund,” and those interested must also supply their name, address and telephone number on the check. Checks may be mailed to David Gomez, New Canaan High School, 11 Farm Road, New Canaan, CT 06840.

For more information, call Gomez at 203-594-4690.
