Outback hosts Olympic-style tourney, holiday dances

The Outback Teen Center will host a pre-vacation party for seventh and eighth graders from 2:30 to 5 p.m. today, Thursday, February 11. Music, games, tournaments and food will be offered. The event is free for members and $3 for non-members.

A band night will be held for high schoolers Saturday, February 13, featuring Paper Hearts, White Rose and This Condition. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. Open hours will be held for middle school students from noon to 3 p.m. Tuesday, February 16, and Thursday, February 18.

The Outback will hold a bowling tournament from 3 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, February 17. The event is free for members and $3 for non-members.

The teen center will host a mystery night from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday, February 19. The event is free for members and $3 for non-members.

The High School Student Governing Board will meet from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 24. Students are invited to share event ideas and build up experience for college resumes.

Parents and teens are invited to attend a free college information night Thursday, February 25, to learn about the college selection search, essay/resume building and interview process. Sponsored by Chyten Educational Services, the session will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. For more information, call 203-972-3600. Registration is required.

An Olympic-style tournament is slated for seventh and eighth grade students from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, February 26. The event is free for members and $3 for non-members.

A seventh grade Valentine’s dance will be held Friday, February 26. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for dinner at the Outback Café, offering $6 combo meals. Music will play from 7 to 10 p.m. The event is free for members and $15 for non-members.

Staff will be at Saxe Middle School during lunch Wednesday, February 24, and Thursday, February 25, for students to reserve spots.

Boy’s Night Out will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, February 27, offering a video game tournament. The event is free for members and $3 for non-members.

The Outback is hosting a variety of after-school programs, starting Monday, February 22, and ending April 19. Yoga is Mondays at 3, 4 and 5 p.m. Photography is slated for Tuesdays from 4 to 5 p.m. and Boot camp is offered from 5 to 6 p.m. A Special FX filmmaking class is held Wednesdays from 3 to 4:30 p.m. The fee is $165 for members and $190 for non-members. Film Acting is also held Wednesdays from 4:35 to 6:05 p.m., at the same fee. Hip-hop is held from 3 to 4 p.m. Thursdays, with billiards following from 4 to 5 p.m. Club 78 is held on Fridays; free for members and $3 for non-members

Programs are $60 for members and $85 for non-members, unless otherwise noted.
