The community is invited to hear the Pivot House Men’s Chorus sing in services at the Congregational Church on Sunday morning, March 14.
The services, at 9:30 and 11:15, will include traditional gospel songs, as well as music composed by the men in the choir. Directed by Joseph Bonaparte, the chorus was founded five years ago and now has 40 singers. The chorus members are participants in the Pivot Ministries program that, according to its mission statement, is “a Christ-centered, Bible-based ministry for men; Pivot’s mission is to treat drug and alcohol addiction as a spiritual problem, and to return the men to their families whole.”
“This is a favorite musical Sunday at the church,” said Dr. Jo Deen Blaine Davis, director of music ministries. “These gentlemen are models for reliance on faith in God through their personal struggles. The congregation appreciates this bond, both musically and personally.”
With local sites in Norwalk and Bridgeport, Pivot Ministries has been a long-time benevolence of the Congregational Church. Church volunteers have assisted with numerous renovation and expansion projects at their Bridgeport location.
Currently, volunteers are renovating a garage there that will be used as an education center for the men.
