Floral effect: Horticulturalist shows work

Floral designer Peter Stephens returns to the Garden Center of New Canaan at the Adrian Lamb Room in the New Canaan Library on Wednesday, March 10, beginning at 9:30 a.m. He will show how to make floral arrangements, and raffle off some of the centerpieces.

“Elegant floral effects can be attained with readily available natural elements, to create beauty in an unconventional way,” Stephens said.

Stephens is a professional horticulturist and floral designer with his business, Elegant Effects, located in Fairfield. The business has served Fairfield and Westchester county events since 1989, with a concentration on wedding and social functions. His work also includes corporate and charity events.

In addition to his floral design business, Stephens has a passion for gardening and plantings. Stephens’ gardens have been published in Metropolitan Home Magazine and others. His Web site is eleganteffectsfloral.com

Membership in the Garden Center of New Canaan, Inc., is open, as are the programs. Monthly programs are held from October to June, and are of varied topics. The group’s focus is the beautification of New Canaan.

In case of snow, when New Canaan Public Schools are cancelled, the program is cancelled. When schools have a delayed opening, the program will be held at the scheduled time.
