Walter Stewart’s sends supplies to Haiti victims

Walter Stewart’s Market donated $8,542 to AmeriCares Disaster Relief efforts for Haiti, after raising money from Walter Stewart’s T-Bill Donation Days drive January 17-30 and offering 10 percent Stewart’s Spirits sales on January 21-22.

“Our Donation Days drive had an overwhelming response,” said Alex Stewart, general manager. “This is certainly a cause that is extremely important to all of us.”

Walter Stewart’s second airlift of needed medicine and medical supplies arrived in Haiti, according to Ann Sawyer of AmeriCares, the Stamford-based nonprofit agency that has been rushing medical supplies and relief workers to Port-au-Prince.

Shoppers who would like to participate in the Donation Days T-Bill program may obtain a courtesy card from Walter Stewart’s customer service staff.
