Wine tasting benefits scholarship foundation

On March 18, New Canaan Wine Merchants at 36 Pine Street is hosting a shopping benefit from 5 to 8 p.m., including an informal wine tasting from 6 to 8. Ten percent of all store purchases will be donated to the New Canaan High School Scholarship Foundation.

The foundation is a broad-based community effort to provide financial aid for New Canaan High graduates pursuing higher education.

Sunday, March 28, is the foundation’s marquee fund-raising effort — “Scholarship Sunday” — when students will be canvasing residents to garner support for scholarships.

If unable to attend the wine benefit, phone orders may be placed anytime on March 18. The New Canaan High School Scholarship Foundation must be mentioned to apply.
