Whodunit at New Canaan High School

The New Canaan High School drama program is presenting “The Mystery of Edwin Drood,” at 7:30 p.m. today through Saturday, March 11-13, in the high school auditorium.

The play, a musical whodunit by Rupert Holmes, portrays a London Music Hall Company of 1892, led by Madame Chairman (played by Katie Oxman) in its attempt to stage a murder mystery written by Charles Dickens, who died before finishing it. The play within a play comes to a complete stop mid-show when the actors run out of material as the mystery of who killed Edwin Drood (played by Charlotte Fager), played by the troop’s leading lady and male impersonator, was never completed. They must now turn to the audience to decide who the murderer is. The audience has nine suspects to choose from.

Tickets are on sale in the high school lobby from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. through Friday, and from one hour before show times.
