Crime thriller author Linda Fairstein will present her new book, “Hell Gate,” at the New Canaan Library this Sunday, March 21, as part of the “Authors on Stage” series co-sponsored by the library and Elm Street Books.
The program begins at 4:30 p.m. Books will be available for purchase and signing.
Head of the sex crime unit of the district attorney’s office in Manhattan for more than 25 years, Fairstein is America’s most visible legal expert on sexual assault and domestic violence — a reason her Alexandra Cooper series has topped best-seller lists for more than a decade, according to a press release. In her latest novel, a political sex scandal befalls a promising New York congressman at the same time Alex Cooper is called to the scene of a shipwreck at Rockaway Beach in Queens. A vessel loaded with illegal immigrants including 30 women likely headed for use in the American sex trade has crashed ashore.
“As [Cooper] dives into this human trafficking investigation, she discovers that a woman from the wreck and the congressman’s lover are connected in a way that simply can’t be coincidence,” the release said. “What’s more, as it becomes clear that these cases are indeed linked, it is also becomes clearer and clearer that the entire political landscape of New York City could hang in the balance.”
