Donna Authers will share excerpts from her book, “A Sacred Walk: Dispelling the Fear of Death and Caring for the Dying,” at 4 p.m. Sunday, March 21, at the Lion’s Den Book & Gift Store at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.
A reception and book signing follows the program.Authers’ book is the result of years as a caregiver to the dying and their families, according to a press release. She draws on real-life situations to offer answers at every level to the challenging questions posed.
“As someone who feared death for most of her adult life and a cancer survivor herself, Authers will describe the miraculous story of how her fear was broken by her grandmother’s faith,” the release said. “In truth, the fear of death is universal, and all too often it robs us of the joy we should find in the living.”
After earning a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pittsburgh, Authers worked in marketing and sales management for nearly 30 years. She moved to full-time volunteer work in 1992.
