Lenten performance: Choir presents ‘Requiem’

The Congregational Church chancel choir will present international organist Maurice Duruflé’s “Requiem, Opus 9,” on Sunday, March 21.

Selections from this nine-movement work will be performed at the 9:30 a.m. service. The entire work will be incorporated into the 11:15 a.m. service. Regular service music will begin at 9:15 and 11, respectively.

Serving as conductor is Dr. Jo Deen Blaine Davis, director of music ministries. The performance will include a string ensemble of violins, viola, cello and string bass, along with harp, tympani and organ. Soloists will include choir section leaders Abigail Nims, mezzo soprano, and David Winkworth, baritone, and choir scholar, Tyler Simpson, baritone.
