Outback Teen Center sets 3-D movie night

The Outback Teen Center will host an open mic afternoon for middle school students from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, March 19, at Club 78. Students may come and read poetry, stories, sing or play music. This event is free for members and $3 for non-members. To perform at this event, call the center.

A 3-D movie night will be held for sixth graders Friday; “Monsters vs. Aliens” will play. This event is $10 and includes a $5 teen center café meal ticket. A member of the Outback staff will be at Saxe Middle School during sixth grade lunch for students to sign up today, Thursday, March 18. Students can also sign up and pay at the door.

Middle school students are invited to come party it up at the March Madness Party from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, March 26. This event is free for members and $3 for non-members. Food will be offered, and students can listen to music and play basketball.

The Outback Teen Center will hold a mother/daughter date night series starting in April, open to middle and high schoolers and their moms. The first event is slated for Thursday, April 15, and will teach about healthy eating. Participants may also take a Zumba class taught by a YMCA certified instructor from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, May 5, mothers and daughters can learn self defense with instructor Karen Smith-Gattuso from 7 to 9 p.m.

Dinner starts at 6 p.m. at the teen center café run, by the Apple Cart Food Company, for both workshops. Dinner and workshops are free. Advance registration is required.
