Six New Canaan organizations are sponsoring a parent workshop, “The Danger of Raising Nice Kids,” with author and speaker Timothy Smith, from 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, March 22, at the Outback Teen Center.
The presentation is aimed at parents of school age children and teens who want more than “nice” kids (i.e. sophisticated, polite), but instead kids who are “equipped to make a difference in the world around them,” according to a press release.As a parent of two daughters himself, Smith, who holds a master’s degree in counseling and has “daily experience with the challenges of families,” the release said.
