An opportunity to visit three of New Canaan’s historic “grand old gentlemen’s estates,” all updated, plus a 21st-Century colonial and a one-of-a-kind contemporary is being offered from 2 to 5 p.m. Friday, May 14. There is no charge, but those wishing to tour the homes must make a reservation with their Realtor or with William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty, which is organizing the event.The homes are:
1) Wisteria Hill, a 1910 landmark on 8.6 acres at 687 Smith Ridge Road; totally renovated and expanded
2) Wexford Hall at 544 Oenoke Ridge, an English Manor house and an example of Jacobean architecture, designed by Willliam B. Tubby
3) Windsor House, a Federal home built in 1801 and moved to a location along the Silvermine River at 81 Valley Road; one of two prominent entrances is over a picturesque stone bridge
4) A new stone and shingle colonial at 474 Ponus Ridge, with “endless views” of nearly five acres of meadows and woods and a 1,500-square-foot dream kitchen
5) The Hemicycle House at 22 Father Peter’s Lane, designed by John Howe, top apprentice to Frank Lloyd Wright in 1982; recently updated and expanded with curved walls of glass, stone and honey Cedar; views on seven acres
