Fund-raiser — Stratford Library Children’s Department will conduct a special fund-raiser at the Milford Barnes & Noble Friday, Nov. 20, 7-9 p.m.
During the event all purchases made at Barnes & Noble, including food, toys and media will directly benefit the Stratford Library Children’s Department.
Shoppers must have a bookfair voucher in order for their purchase to benefit the library. Library vouchers will be valid all day Friday, Nov. 20-Wednesday, Nov. 25. They are currently available at the Stratford Library or at stratfordlibrary.org.

Event is a cooperative effort between the Town, the Economic Development Commission, the Stratford Chamber of Commerce, Sterling House, the Stratford Library, Square One, the Perry House, and the Stratford Theatre, as well as the restaurants and property owners in Stratford Center.
A section of Main Street will be blocked off, and the event will include shows and performances, carolers, refreshments and discounts provided by Stratford Center restaurants, and tree and street lighting ceremony.

Flood pool schedule — Open swims, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 6-7 and 7-8 p.m. Adult swims, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 8-9 p.m. Saturdays, 1-2, senior/adult swim, followed by two open swims, 2-3 and 3-4.
Cost for open swim is $2 adults; $1 children and seniors. An adult must accompany children under 12.
Pool will be closed Nov. 25-28 for holidays and school activities.

Tyler Holloway of Stratford, 11, is preparing to take the stage once occupied by Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughn and Billie Holliday.
Tyler will sing at the Apollo Theatre in Harlem in January as part of a celebration of the venue’s 75th anniversary.
A preview will air on “Our Lives” on Channel 12 this weekend. Broadcast times are Saturday, Nov. 14, at 8:30 a.m., noon and 3:30 p.m.; and Sunday, Nov. 15, at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
She attended an open audition on Oct. 18, “just for the fun and experience of a real audition,” and said she was surprised and honored to be selected as one of a handful of acts out of more than 700 from across the country to appear in the show.
This commemorative Amateur Night event is the first in the theater’s history to offer a $10,000 cash prize to the winner.

A reception for the Vietnam War exhibit now in the Easton Public Library showcase will take place Saturday, Nov. 14 from noon to 2:30 p.m.
“Vietnam: Fragments and Images — The Brutal Illusion Revisited” is a compilation of three-dimensional combat art miniatures as well as a selection of original photography from the Vietnam War by Stratford resident Robert D. Bracci. It will remain on display through Nov. 30.
