Stratford resident Mary Ann Vlahac has been selected as one of three initial inductees into Housatonic Community College’s newly formed “Alumni Hall of Fame.”
She will be inducted at a black-tie gala Saturday, Nov. 21, at 7 p.m. in the college’s new Events Center in Beacon Hall.

Brittney Curcio, formerly of Flood Middle School, was chosen to receive the Connecticut Citzenship Award, presented by Mayor James R. Miron on behalf of Secrectary of the State Susan Bysiewicz.
The award is given to a student who demonstrates volunteer services to the community, involvement in citizenship or character building organizations, good scholastic records, participation in student government, faithful school attendance and leadership ability to motivate others with actions that benefit the community.

Philip T. Hopkins, son of Mary and Mark Hopkins of Stratford, was named to the spring semester dean’s list at West Virginia University. A student with a triple major in communications, marketing, and business, Hopkins spent this past summer as an intern for the Washington Wild Things, Minor League Baseball Team, in Washington, Pa. He was a 2005 graduate of Notre Dame of Fairfield.
