City’s Giacomo Gates performs in Milford on Nov. 20

Bridgeport jazz singer Giacomo Gates will perform Friday, Nov. 20 at 8 p.m. at the Milford Center for the Arts. He will be accompanied by pianist Kent Hewitt.

Gates has released four CDs, with his most recent, Luminsoity, receiving rave reviews and heavy airplay on more than 300 stations.

He has been nominated by the Jazz Journalists Association in the Best Male Jazz Vocalist category, and in the DownBeat magazine 2009 Annual Critics Poll he was noted No. 1 in the “Rising Star” category.”

He has played at major U.S. clubs, festivals, colleges and jazz societies. Gates teaches regularly at Wesleyan University, the Hartford Conservatory of Music and New Haven’s Neighborhood Music School.
