Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch helped Blackham School’s Green Team kickoff a month-long fundraiser that will earn the school $1 for every new registered member of Recyclebank on Feb. 13.
Blackham School students will soon be knocking on doors and encouraging their neighbors, friends and families to sign up with Recyclebank, the city’s recycling partner as part of a month-long fund-raiser at the school.
For each new recycling registration, Recyclebank will donate $1 to Blackham School. The money will be used to purchase school supplies, according to Chris Kinsley, coordinator of the Blackham School Green Team. The Green Team, which helped Mayor Bill Finch to help kick off the fund-raiser on Feb. 13, is a group of seventh and eighth grade students who are learning about recycling and energy conservation in class and putting their newfound knowledge to work overseeing the school’s recycling efforts.
