Around noontime Friday Letter Carrier Luz Gongzalez was on her routine loop to deliver mail when she came to 62 Marlborough Terrace in Fairfield.  That's when she found a note under the door written by the occupant that she had fallen and had been there since the previous night.

Gongzalez immediately called 911 and ran down the road to the woman's sister-in-law who opened the door.  According to the sister-in-law, who did not want to go on camera, the woman had fallen and may have broken her hip.  She was upstairs at the time and managed to crawl down the stairs but was unable to reach the telephone to call for help.  She even managed to get a blanket and cover herself for the night.

"It's our duty" said Gongzalez, "Whatever I can do I'm here to help."

She continued on her route as if nothing had happened.  The sister in law said she would be getting Life Alert for herself and her sister-in-law.  The woman was taken to the hospital for further evaluation.
