Rachel Ambrosio, director of the Montessori School of Redding, enlisted the help of web designer and parent Jennifer Carello to update the school website.
"My husband and I worked on designs with a light blue and yellow color scheme and presented it to Jennifer," said Mrs. Ambrosio. "We worked together, worked on the logo, pulled from different designs. Jennifer has a very good vision and she is detail oriented."
The website was up and running Jan. 16, she said.
"It took about six months to do, mostly due to the amount of text that needed to be written," said Mrs. Ambrosio.
It features multiple pages of information on the Montessori school, photos and slideshows of the children in the classroom, contact information and admissions information.
"It explains the process kids go through. A lot of people think Montessori is a free for all, but it's not. It's self-directed, independent, enthusiastic education; not chaos," said Mrs. Ambrosio.
The photos on the website are of the actual Redding school with the children who attend, said Mrs. Carello, who moved to Redding specifically for her child to attend the Montessori school.
"Text is very important but very time consuming," said Mrs. Ambrosio. "We took a team approach."
The website went from one-page to multiple pages.
"The old was only a snapshot, the new really draws people in. It attracts more people to come and visit the school. We've had the toddler program for three years that wasn't listed on the old website, and now it is," said Mrs. Ambrosio.
With Ms. Carello's help Mrs. Ambrosio is able to get the Montessori message out.
"I am able to update the website on my own so when there are special functions, or I want to add programs, I have the control to do that," said Mrs. Ambrosio.
Parents can visit the new website by going to montessorischoolofredding.com.
