To help students prepare for the CAPT, the Joel Barlow High School Mathematics Department is offering math review sessions.
The Connecticut Academic Performance Task (CAPT) is a comprehensive, state-required assessment administered to all public high school sophomores in the spring. Students must pass all sections of the CAPT to be eligible to earn a diploma.
The sessions will meet from 3 to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. The dates and topics are as follows:
Thursday Feb. 8 — Algebra & Functions; Tuesday, Feb. 14 — Geometry & Measurement; Tuesday, Feb. 16 — Geometry & Measurement; Tuesday, Feb. 28 — Numerical & Proportional Reasoning; and Thursday, March 1 — Working With Data: Statistics & Probability
Sessions are open to all students interested in extra review in preparation for the CAPT.
The size of the sessions is limited to maintain a low student to teacher ratio. Registering for the sessions is encouraged. Students may register for individual sessions or for the entire review course. There is no cost for students to attend.
To register, call Mr. Sopko at 203-938-2508, extension 1132, or email Joe Sopko at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . Include the first and last names of the student(s) and the sessions they will be attending.
