Club’s seminar focuses on tree regulations

Sean McNamaraThe first of three free seminars to be presented by the Redding Garden Club will be held Sunday, Feb. 12, at 2:30 p.m. at the Redding Community Center. Sean McNamara, the town's deputy tree warden and a licensed arborist, is the guest speaker.

Mr. McNamara will discuss current state and town regulations governing tree management and how the town, utility companies and residents are all part of the effort to preserve trees.

He will also provide information on what residents can do to maintain their trees and forested areas. With his experience diagnosing and treating insect and disease problems in Connecticut, Mr. McNamara will offer guidance on how residents can help to protect their trees.

Mr. McNamara worked in his family business as a young boy and continued to do so after graduating from the University of Connecticut. He is a member of the CT Tree Protection Association and CT Nursery & Landscape Association. He has served with his father for many years as a town tree warden.

The Redding Garden Club was founded in 1964 to stimulate interest in and knowledge of horticulture, to assist the town in its conservation activities, to aid in the protection of native trees, birds and wildflowers, and to increase the knowledge of the artistic use of plant material.
