The Redding Garden Club has invited Nancy King, a licensed landscape architect, as guest speaker at its meeting on Monday, Feb.13, at the Redding Community Center.
Ms. King will present an instructive lecture and discussion about how creative gardeners can develop their property using professional techniques to manage problem landscapes. Topics will include practical methods to enhance ecosystems, including rain gardens to manage storm water. Another method is to incorporate a variety of native plants into the design.
Ms. King is a LEEDS AP, certified Master Gardener, member of the American Society of Landscape Architects, as well as a Redding Planning commissioner. Joining Ms. King will be Elisa Miret-Pollino, a landscape project designer who studied in England under the famed English garden designers John Brookes and Rosemary Verey. He is a member of Wilton's Inland Wetlands Commission.
The Redding Garden Club, a member of Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut and National Garden Clubs, meets monthly and always welcome guests and potential new members to attend ($5 fee). Meetings begin at 11:30 a.m. with a light lunch and business meeting followed by a specific program at 1 p.m. For information, call 203-938-0694 or visit the club's website to learn more about the Redding Garden Club: reddinggardenclub.org.
