Jazz Vespers set at Christ Church on Saturday

The Rev. Marilyn Anderson and Music Minister Martha Meyer of Christ Church Episcopal have announced another Jazz Vespers Sunday, Nov. 15, at 7 p.m.

A departure from usual services, the hour intersperses provocative short readings with music exploring the theme “The Mystique Of Place.” Songs on the program are Autumn In New York by Vernon Duke, St. Thomas by Sonny Rollins, Isfahan by Ellington and Strayhorn, St. Louis Blues by W.C. Handy, and Indiana by McDonald and Hanley.

The quartet of musicians features Grammy-nominated Paul Avgerinos doubling on vocals and bass, Bob Kolb, versatile on tenor and soprano saxophones and clarinet, Matt Moadel on drumsand Martha Meyer on keyboard.

All are welcome to attend and to stay for the reception following. Free will donations will support the church’s music program.

The church is located at the corner of Cross Highway and Route 58.
