Local talent rallies for library's art show

When it comes to planning the Mark Twain Library’s Art Show Preview Party, there are two main challenges: How do you make the town’s signature event a standout each year? and How do you do so on a considerably tight budget?

Fortunately for party co-chairs Emery Beach and Melissa Wright, you do it with the help and generosity of friends… friends of the library, that is. This year’s team of vendors has already gone above and beyond the call to make sure that the 37th Annual Mark Twain Library Preview Gala is the best ever. And with the theme of this year’s fete, “Paint The Town Red-ding!” they’re having fun doing it.

The caterers are Redding residents Reed Collyer and Mark Sharon of Collyer Caterers. Fernando Pereya, owner of The Olive Market, will also be supplementing the fare with a selection of delicious cheeses and olives. The floral designer, Kyle Riccoboni of Earth Gardens in Wilton, will be “seeing red” in his creations, and Jarl Orell, owner of Events Party and Tent Rentals in Georgetown, is helping with the necessary rentals. A faithful friend of the Mark Twain Library, Mitch Ancona of Ancona’s Wines and Liquor has chosen some special selections for this very special occasion.

The Art Show Preview Party will be held on Friday evening, Dec. 4. Invitations have been mailed to all of the current “Friends” of the Library — those who supported the library’s Annual Appeal this year. If you did not receive an invitation and are interested in attending the Art Show Preview Party, contact the library at 203-938-2545 for information on joining as a “Friend.”

The Mark Twain Library is owned by the Mark Twain Library Association. It was founded in 1908 by Samuel Clemens — Mark Twain himself — one of Redding’s most celebrated residents.
