It is Thanksgiving; and as the 37th Annual Mark Twain Library draws very near, it’s the perfect time to give thanks to those who have stepped up to insure the success of this important event.
Matt Robey of The Connecticut Group LLC and Tom Hine, Capital Wealth Management LLC, have once again underwritten a significant portion of the expenses. These gentlemen, along with two other donors who wish to remain anonymous, have donated money to defray some of the costs associated with hosting the Art Show’s Preview Gala, to be held Friday evening, Dec. 4.
Proceeds from the art show are depended upon to sustain a major portion of the library’s operating budget each year.
The library said it is “very grateful” to the Realtors of William Pitt/Sotheby’s International Realty’s “Team Redding,” who are providing “a very a special offering” for the art show’s Silent Auction at the Preview Gala. Guests will be able to bid on a once-in-a-lifetime field trip of sorts — a private tour for six of Sotheby’s auction house in Manhattan (during the 2010 exhibit of their choice), followed by a gourmet lunch at Sotheby’s café. Sotheby’s, located on New York’s Upper East Side, is the company’s worldwide headquarters. Its history of success includes numerous high-profile sales such as the collections of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, the Duke and Duchess of Windsor and Katharine Hepburn.
Jill Barberie, who is in charge of the Silent Auction, is particularly excited about this year’s unique addition. “Typically, the Silent Auction generates a festive spirit of enthusiasm as guests bid on the wide variety of donated works. I can only imagine how lively things will get at the party this year as folks happily compete for this fantastic opportunity to go behind the scenes at Sotheby’s,” she said.
The estimated value of this package is $500. The Realtors on “Team Redding” are Roni Agress, Ginny Beasley, Margot Ciolino, Barbara Davin, Nick Davis, Deb Herrera, Eveline Kubick, MaryLou Mayerick, Michael McKee and Nita Mohler.
