H1N1 flu clinics set

On Thursdays, Jan. 7 and 14, H1N1 flu vaccine clinics for Redding are being held by appointment onlyfor all who wish to receive it. Call 203-938-2559 for an appointment. No walk-ins will be allowed.

Parents are now encouraged to seek the second dose of 2009 H1N1 vaccine for their children who are younger than 10 years old, according to Health Officer Doug Hartline in a release. The recommended interval between the first and second dose should be at least 28 days, however, a second dose given at least 21 days after the first is considered valid.

It is recommended that all parents who have children with flu-like illness to keep them home until they are symptom free for 24 hours.

Seasonal flu vaccine is limited in supply, said Mr. Hartline. Call the Danbury Visiting Nurse Association 203-730-5239 for a listing of their flu shot clinics or visit www.fluclininclocator.org for other clinic sites and dates near you.
