Free Yogalates is offered on Mondays this month

Free Yogalates will be offered at the Redding Community Center on Wednesday mornings though the month of January. Classes are from 9 to 10 a.m. in the Community Room.

Yoga poses help develop strength, flexibility, and balance. Mat pilates is an exercise method focusing on core muscles of the abdominals and low back. Yogalates combines yoga and pilates for a complete workout of mind, body, and spirit.

Instructor Laurie Mayper, a Redding resident since 1994, also teaches classes in Easton, Ridgefield, Fairfield, and Darien. She was certified by YogaSpirit Studios at the 200 hour level in 2005, YogaFit, AFAA, and YMCA of the USA.

Ms. Mayper is offering the free classes “to promote this worthwhile program to current, former, and potential new students right here in Redding. The Heritage Center, along with Park & Rec., offers a wide range of fitness and yoga choices, a beautiful room overlooking woods and a convenient central location at an affordable cost.”

All ages and levels of fitness are welcome in this non-competitive class.

Free classes are Jan. 13, 20, and 27. No pre-registration is necessary. If Redding schools have a snow day or delayed opening, no class will be held that day.
