Linda Colletta of Blackbird Yoga will lead a program entitled Yoga in Your Chair at the Mark Twain Library on Sunday, Jan. 31, at 2:30 p.m.
Yoga is a 5,000-year-old ancient discipline that develops, and integrates the body, mind, and spirit. It stretches and strengthens muscles throughout the body and increases circulation as it quiets the nervous system and improves concentration. This ancient system of self-care brings vitality, health, relaxation, and peace of mind. Currently, close to 11 million Americans are enjoying its health benefits.
Linda Colletta, owner and teacher at Blackbird Yoga in Georgetown will discuss the benefits of yoga and how to integrate this discipline into your daily life through teaching a series of very simple yoga poses you can do anywhere, anytime, right in your chair. These postures can be extremely effective in increasing range of motion and flexibility, lubricating joints and relieving stress in a very short period of time while becoming part of a lifelong healthy lifestyle, according to the library’s press release.
“Whether you sit in your chair all day feeling tight and stressed or you are dealing with physical issues or injuries that limit your range of motion or your in great shape but just want to learn more about yoga; Yoga in Your Chair will be a great benefit to you!” the release continued
Admission is free of charge, and refreshments will be served. Register at the circulation desk or call 938-2545. This program is sponsored by the Mark Twain Library Program Committee.
