Gilead I. Lancaster, M.D., F.A.C.C., was recently elected Connecticut Governor to the American College of Cardiology (ACC). He will be the Connecticut Governor-elect for a one-year period and then assume the three-year governorship in March of 2011. In addition, Dr. Lancaster will concurrently serve as the president-elect and president of the Connecticut Chapter of the American College of Cardiology (CCACC).
Dr. Lancaster is the director of non-invasive cardiology and associate director of the Cardiovascular Fellowship at the Heart Institute at Bridgeport Hospital. He is an assistant clinical professor of medicine at Yale School of Medicine and is board certified in internal medicine and cardiology and has additional board certifications in echocardiography and nuclear cardiology.
Dr. Lancaster has been a Connecticut cardiologist for 18 years and has practiced in Danbury, Hartford, and Bridgeport. He lives in Redding with his wife Mary, and two children, Peter and Chloe.
The American College of Cardiology is a 37,000-member nonprofit medical society whose mission is to advocate for quality cardiovascular care — through education, research, promotion, development and by influencing health care policy. The ACC bestows the credential Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC) upon physicians who meet its stringent qualifications.
The Connecticut Chapter of the American College of Cardiology (CCACC) has 559 members that include Connecticut cardiologists, cardiologists-in-training, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and pharmacists. It has been advocating for patients and educating its members since its founding in 1994.
