SeniorNet courses are set to begin

The spring programs of the Redding Learning Center, sponsored by SeniorNet, are about to get under way at Heritage Center, located in the Redding Community Center. SeniorNet courses are open to all adults.

Registration is now open for courses including Introduction to Digital Cameras, Introduction to Microsoft Word and Introduction to Microsoft Excel. Introduction to Computers, as well as a photography editing course, Photoshop Elements, and Introduction to the Internet are also being offered.

The goal of these courses is to help students learn to use computers, cameras and other digital electronic devices for personal benefit and pleasure. All courses are designed to be enjoyable and user friendly. Every student in a computer class is assigned a PC for classroom instruction; classes are limited to five students and feature hands-on activities on Windows-based PCs.

SeniorNet also offers non computer classes introducing students to digital cameras, a new course in Creative Photography starting in May and for genealogy fans, a non-computer course in genealogy and family history.

The fees for the SeniorNet courses are kept low to encourage as many participants as possible and there are minimal costs for materials if needed. Courses run from four to eight weeks. Classes are held from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. or 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on weekdays (except Friday). Courses may be canceled if fewer than four students register.

The spring schedule is as follows:

Introduction to Word: Mondays, 9:30 a.m. (eight sessions) beginning Oct. 5, $40 plus $10 for materials.

Introduction to Excel: Thursdays, 9:30 a.m. (eight sessions) beginning April 15 , $40 plus $10 for materials.

Introduction to Computers: Mondays, 1:30 p.m. (four sessions) beginning April 12, $20 plus $10 for materials.

Introduction to the Internet: Tuesdays, 1:30 p.m. (four sessions) beginning April 13, $20 plus $10 for materials.

Introduction to Digital Cameras : Tuesdays, 9:30 a.m. (four sessions) beginning April 13, $20 plus $10 for materials.

Photoshop Elements 8: Wednesdays, 9:30 a.m. (eight sessions) beginning April 14, $40 plus $10 for materials.

Geneology/Family history: Tuesdays, 9:30 a.m. (four sessions) beginning April 20, $20 plus materials, if required.

Creative Photography: Tuesdays, 9:30 a.m. (four sessions) beginning May 18, $20, no materials.
