At Congregational Church: LaPlante will talk about her books

Eve LaPlante, an award-winning historical author, will speak at the First Church of Christ, Congregational, on Sunday, March 21, at 4 p.m. All are welcome.

A graduate of Princeton and Harvard, Ms. LaPlante will speak about two of her recent and highly acclaimed books. The Boston Globe bestseller, American Jezebel (2004), tells the story of Ms. LaPlante’s ancestor, Anne Hutchinson, one of the heroines of New England history as well as the Congregational heritage.

Her latest biography, Salem Witch Judge (2008), brings to life Samuel Sewall, the only judge to publicly recant his verdicts and ask forgiveness following the famous 1692 trials in Salem. Salem Witch Judge won the 2008 Massachusetts Book Award for Nonfiction.

In addition to American Jezebel and Salem Witch Judge, Eve LaPlante has written for The Atlantic, The New York Times, Ladies’ Home Journal, Parents, Country Living, and Gourmet. She lives with her family in Massachusetts.

A time for discussion with the author, as well as refreshments and book-signings, will follow the lecture.

Additional information, including the availability of books at a discounted price, is available at the Congregational Church main office, 203 938-2004. In addition, the books will be available for purchase at the event. The church is located at 25 Cross Highway.
